In the hypothetical situation that Hitler had at his disposal the military technology the USA has today and the Russians counted on the technology of World War II, would it have been easy for the Germans to take Stalingrad?
Would it take one or two days or would General Winter, that defeated Hitler in 1942, still be a tough adversary?
Just my curiosity. Thaank you.

  1. Rock Or Something says:

General Winter had significant help from Generals Scorched Earth and Mass Quantities of Men and Material.
But it would be a no contest fight: our military trained and equipped for 60 years after WWII to be able to invade Russia successfully. Being able to quickly service many targets with massive firepower is what cold war doctrine is all about.
It’s also the reason the enemies don’t dare stand up to us symmetrically. In fact, our love of firepower works against us in many cases…our army of 1930 was much better suited to our current wars than our army of 2000.

  2. Bolt Thrower says:

one major blunder that the germans did was send the troops into stalingrad with summer uniforms on,other than that yes i believe that hitler would have overrun all of the soviet union and stalingrad.
btw most german technology was way ahead of what the united states had had at the time.
    the v 1 rocket.
    the v 2 rocket.
    the messerschmidt 262.

maybe the german can overrun the defense of the city and take it easily without destroying it!..
